Who needs one?

The Fire Safety Order applies to all non-domestic premises in England and Wales, including the common parts of blocks of flats and houses involving multiple occupation (HMOs). The law applies if you are:

- responsible for business premises

- provide accommadation to paying guests

- charity or voluntary organisation

- responsible for part of a dwelling that is used for business

Fire risk assessments have now replaced the old Fire Certificate which was issued by the Fire Brigade. The building Fire Risk Assessment is simple and easy to understand document that will assist those responsible for managing the building to assess the building fire risks and the measures in place in that may prevent a fire occuring. These include facility managers and company directors.

Our building fire risk assessments will include both a fire strategy document andf the fire risk assessment checklist. Photographs will also be included where necessary.

Fire Risk Assessment Checklist

This part of the document is a long check list of various fire safety items which may require attention, this could be for example the condition of fire escape doors or the level of combustible material stored within the building. Photographs will be taken as record, and an action plan produced. This checklist will cover all apsects as fire safety and is the first step in proving that you are working towards a fire compliant building.

Fire Strategy

This includes details on the current provision for fire escape. It will assess the escape routes in terms of width and advise on the mximum occupancy rates for a building or floor. We will also advise you on the existing level of fire detection you have within the building. This forms part of your overall fire records and will compliment the risk assessment we produce.
